What Makes Magee Unique
Magee is an academically focused school with high expectations and a challenging and supportive environment. While we have one of the largest attendance areas for middle schools in TUSD, about a third of the approximately 560 students at Magee are open-enrolled, meaning that our students come from all over Tucson.
Magee is expanding its opportunities in all things STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math). We are the only middle school in TUSD that offers 3 levels of band and orchestra. We also offer full-time art (new in 2016-2017), theatre, and technology classes. In the 2017-2018 school year, we are expanding our elective offerings to include robotics and coding. We also offer grade-level and advanced coursework in math and science, including Algebra for high school credit.

We offer several clubs for students. Two of the most notable are FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and Odyssey of the Mind. Led by the 2016 Arizona Business Educators Association Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Meilii Halfmann, our FBLA students compete in the regional and state level competitions. Our award-winning Odyssey of the Mind program challenges students to come up with creative solutions to designated problems. Teams from Magee have won the Arizona State Championship for 13 years straight and have gone on to compete in the World Competitions, placing as high as 3rd. Mrs. Marjorie Letson, the 2016 TUSD Middle School Teacher of the Year, is the sponsor of this incredible program.

Finally, we offer our students several opportunities for travel. Our 6th graders have the opportunity to participate in the Washington, D.C. Club and then travel to our nation's capital for a 3 day trip. Our 7th graders can travel to CIMI (Catalina Island Marine Institute) for an introduction to marine biology. And this summer, our Roaming Roadrunners are travelling to Italy! All of these trips have costs associated with them, and you can find out more about them at our Travel Night in early September each year.
